  2. Two Bibles I think could be on your list are, “The NKJV Open Bible” and “The Hebrew/Greek Study Bible” by Lockman. They are of great profit to any Christian.

  3. I was a theological editor on the Cultural Backgrounds Study Bible. I love that resource, but I will say that readers need to be careful in the OT. John Walton holds to some strange theories that cannot be supported by a plain reading of the text (and in some ways undermine traditional orthodox positions). At times, he also gives priority to comparative texts and traditions, even when, chronologically, the biblical account pre-existed those texts and traditions. In other words, he sees influence when there isn’t any. That said, the NT (Craig Keener’s work) is solid, and Walton’s is mostly helpfulβ€”just be discerning.
